Aquacade is held on the first full weekend of August.

Spirit Week (week prior to Aquacade)

Raising of the Westacres Colored Flags, these can be homemade or your Westacres T-Shirt, will earn 1 point per household for either the North or the South side.

RULES: The Flag, T-Shirt or Home Display of our theme (INSERT THEME HERE) will have to be displayed so it is easily seen from your street in the front of your house, on the roof or attached to the front of your home, or prominently displayed and easy to see from the street in a front window! The flag, T-shirt or display needs to be at least 2’x3’ or bigger.

If you choose to convert your home into (INSERT THEME HERE), even better. This year we will be awarding the 2024 Aquacade Spirit Week Grand Champions 5 points; 4 points to 2ndplace; and 3 points to 3rd place.

Everyone else that chooses to participate will gain their side 1 point for Spirit Week. This year we will be doing a % based point system, so every house that participates will count, but points will be awarded based on the % of the total homes on the North and South side.

Let’s have fun and be creative!

Parade Information

Eligible Participants: Residents in good standing, plus former residents, friends, relatives, and guests of residents in good standing may participate.

Everyone who pre-registers for the Saturday morning parade gets a point for their side. There is a new DEADLINE for pre-registration which will be on WEDNESDAY July 31st by Midnight.

We will be accepting email pre-registrations sent to Michelle Patterson and Laurie Augenbaugh at AQUACADEPARADE@Gmail.com.

There are 3 categories to enter the parade: 1) walker, 2) rider (like golf cart or wagon), or 3) float (something pulled by another vehicle). To be entered into this year’s parade, each entry must have a “W” (walker), “R” (rider) or “F” (float) clearly visible to the judges on the front of the group or vehicle or float.

Definition of Walker, Rider, Float:

  • Walker: Anything manually pulled or pushed by a human. (wagon, bike, human walking, etc.)
  • Rider: Anything propelled by an electric or gas-powered motor (golf cart, tractor, etc.) Not Pulling Anything
  • Float: Anything TOWED by a motorized vehicle (car, truck, gator, etc.)

Look for the registration forms in the next two editions of the Weekly or visit www.tinyurl.com/aquacadeparade, the PREFERRED METHOD.

We also award points for the grand champion of the 2025 parade. 1 point for each Human Participant (must be present Saturday a.m.) who has preregistered. IMPORTANT NOTE: IF you did not *preregister each resident and nonresident's name, you will not be awarded participation points for the # of your participants. (*DEADLINE Wednesday, July 30, midnight.)

However if you did not preregister and you win, you will get the winning points: 5 points for GRAND WINNER; 4 points for 2nd place winners; 3 points for 3rd place winners.

This year we ARE NOT awarding points for animals of any kind. Points will be split equally if there are any North and South families having a combined parade entry.

There will be 4 categories the judges will be awarding this year: Best Use of Theme; Most Creative; Most Spirit; and Most Theatrical. (Judges have the option to add a category if needed.) Each category will have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winner within each group. (Walker, Rider, Float.)

Thank you for understanding the need to preregister this year to earn participation points. A lot of time and effort goes into organizing the parade and last minute changes cause long delays.

Bring your garbage home…

Residents: Please do NOT use the dumpsters located in the beach parking lot or behind the clubhouse as these will be needed for the Corn Roast and other Aquacade activities including the Sunday food stand. With so much activity, they fill up fast!
