Garlic Mustard Invasion!
May 8th, 2010Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata) is growing with wild abandon in Westacres gardens. The problem with this weed is that it starts growing very early in the spring, giving it a head start over native wildflowers and plants such as liverworts, toothworts, solomon-seal, trilliums, trout lilly, sweet-cisley and many others.
Get rid of it by cutting, pulling, burning or applying herbicides. Out of weedkiller? Try eating it (honestly, its a member of the mustard family… here’s a link to some allegedly yummy recipes to get you started: http://ma-eppc.org/recipes.html#app (disclaimer: Westacres Community Association and its webmaster take no responsibility for advice given on third party websites))
